All enemies foreign and domestic

Hugh Shelton crossed political boundaries to unite with a whole gaggle of officers and enlisted men to oppose the President on the issue of torture. The term "illegal order" was used and the suggestion was that Americans of good conscience should refuse to follow these illegal orders.
The oath specifically mentions that we must defend the constitution against domestic enemies, and a President who refuses to comply with the prohibition against search and seizure and the Rule of Law fits that bill more and more.
Our democracy is in peril. Rome fell, and so can we. As Old Ben replied coming out of the Constitutional Convention when asked whether we had a monarchy or a republic, "A republic, madam. If you can keep it."
It's time to keep it. Long past time.
